Virtualizor Server Cleanup

Find every VPS on your Virtualizor servers that no longer matches an active Blesta service, then review and clean it up safely from inside Blesta.

What it does

Over time, VPSes get left behind on your Virtualizor servers - a trial that was never converted, a service that was cancelled without its VPS ever being removed, a manual test that got forgotten. Each one keeps consuming disk, RAM and an IP address, and finding them usually means cross-checking your Virtualizor panel against your Blesta client list by hand. Virtualizor Server Cleanup does that reconciliation for you: it lists every VPS across every Virtualizor server you've connected, automatically flags any that no longer belong to an active service, and lets your staff review and delete the leftovers directly from Blesta - along with the reverse case, a Blesta service whose VPS has already vanished from the server.

Installing Virtualizor Server Cleanup

Before you start

• If you are on the leased (subscription) licence, the Blesta Club Subscription Manager must be installed and your subscription active. The owned and owned-source licences have no such requirement.
• You need at least one Virtualizor module installed and connected to your Blesta company (Settings > Company > Modules), since that's where this plugin gets the list of servers to check. If you haven't set that up yet, do that first.

1. Upload the files

Upload the extension folder into your Blesta installation so it lands under your Blesta directory at:

plugins/virtualizor_server_cleanup/

For example, on a typical install: /var/www/html/blesta/plugins/virtualizor_server_cleanup/

2. Install it in Blesta

1. Log in to your Blesta admin area with a staff account that has the Plugins permission, including Install Plugin and Manage Plugin (found under the Settings group in Manage Staff Groups).
2. Go to Settings > Company > Plugins and click the Available tab.
3. Find Virtualizor Server Cleanup in the list and click Install.

Installing automatically grants your own staff group every permission this plugin registers, so you can start using it right away. Any other staff group starts with those permissions unchecked.

3. Grant staff access to other groups

If other staff groups should also be able to use this plugin:

1. Go to Settings > Staff > Staff Groups.
2. Edit each staff group that should manage server cleanup.
3. Under the Virtualizor Server Cleanup section, tick View Servers, Delete a Server, Delete Servers in Bulk, Ignore a Server, Un-ignore a Server, and View Deletion Log as appropriate for that group.
4. Save.

4. Configure it

There's nothing to enter on a settings screen - no API key of its own, no cron task, no webhook. The plugin reads every server straight from your existing Virtualizor module row(s), so once you (or the group you granted access to) have at least one Virtualizor server connected under Settings > Company > Modules, you're ready to go - see the usage guide for a walkthrough of the server list and its actions.

Updating Virtualizor Server Cleanup

Upgrading works just like installing: upload the new files over the old ones, then run the upgrade from the same page you installed it on.

1. Back up your current extension files first - good practice before any upgrade.
2. Upload the new version over the existing folder, replacing the old files at plugins/virtualizor_server_cleanup/.
3. Log in to your Blesta admin area and go to Settings > Company > Plugins.
4. Find Virtualizor Server Cleanup on the Installed tab and click Update to run the upgrade.

Version-specific notes

• Version 2.0.0: Adds pagination and a filter bar to the server list, new IP/status/canceled columns, the deletion audit log, the Ignore list, and the Missing Services tab. The two new tables this needs are created automatically during the upgrade - there's nothing to configure and no data to migrate.

• Version 1.1.0: Adds staff permissions to this plugin for the first time, so access can be restricted per staff group. Because these permissions are new, Blesta registers them unchecked for every existing staff group, so right after this update, no one - including administrators - will see the plugin in the navigation anymore. This is expected, not a bug. To restore access:

  1. Go to Settings > Staff > Staff Groups.
  2. Edit each staff group that should manage server cleanup.
  3. Under the Virtualizor Server Cleanup section, tick View Servers and whichever of Delete a Server, Delete Servers in Bulk, Ignore a Server, Un-ignore a Server, and View Deletion Log that group should have.
  4. Save.

Using Virtualizor Server Cleanup

For your staff

Finding the server list

Once your staff group has been granted access (see the install guide), you'll see a new Virtualizor Server Cleanup tab in the main navigation bar at the top of the admin area, alongside Home, Clients, Billing and the rest. Click it to open the main server list, built from every VPS on every Virtualizor server connected to your Blesta company.

The status tabs

Across the top of the page, five tabs each show a live count:

• All Servers - every VPS on every connected Virtualizor server, valid and invalid together.
• Valid Servers - a VPS still claimed by a service that isn't cancelled. This includes a suspended or pending service - only a cancelled one drops its VPS into Invalid.
• Invalid Servers - a VPS with no claiming service, or whose only claiming service has been cancelled. This is the cleanup queue: each row shows a Delete and an Ignore action.
• Ignored - a VPS you've told the plugin not to manage. It's removed here rather than deleted, and can be returned to Invalid at any time with Un-ignore.
• Missing Services - the reverse case: an active Blesta service whose VPS no longer exists on its server at all, so you can fix the service record before a client notices.

Each row on the All/Valid/Invalid/Ignored tabs shows the VPS ID, name, hostname, IP address, running/stopped status, and the service claiming it (with a "(canceled)" marker when that service has been cancelled) or "Invalid Server" when nothing claims it. If one of your Virtualizor servers can't be reached when the list loads, a notice at the top says so and names how many servers were affected, so you know the list may be incomplete rather than assuming everything is accounted for.

Filtering and sorting

Above the table, a filter bar lets you narrow the list by VPS ID, Hostname, or which Server it's on - typing into any of these filters the list instantly with no page reload. Click any of the VPS ID, Name, Hostname, or Service column headings to sort by that column; click again to reverse the sort direction.

Deleting a server

Click Delete on any row (except in Ignored, which has no Delete action) to remove that VPS from its Virtualizor server. You'll be asked to confirm first:

• If the VPS has no active claiming service, the confirmation simply asks "Are you sure you want to delete this server?"
• If the VPS is still claimed by an active service, the confirmation instead names the hostname, the service ID, and the client it belongs to, and warns that it's in active use - so you can't delete a live customer's server by mistake without seeing exactly whose it is first.

To delete several at once, tick the checkbox next to each row you want to remove (or the header checkbox to select every row on the page), choose Remove from the action dropdown, and click Submit. Each VPS is deleted individually and the result is reported back separately - if some succeed and others fail, you're told exactly which VPS IDs failed rather than one pass/fail verdict for the whole batch.

Ignoring a server

If a VPS in the Invalid list is one you manage outside of Blesta on purpose - a template, a personal test box, anything that was never meant to have a matching service - click Ignore instead of Delete. After confirming, it moves to the Ignored tab and drops out of Invalid for good, without being touched on the Virtualizor server itself. Click Un-ignore on the Ignored tab at any time to send it back to Invalid (or Valid, if a matching service exists by then).

Reviewing the Deletion Log

Click Deletion Log at the top of the page to see every delete attempt ever made through this plugin - successful or not. Each row records the date, the staff member who did it, the VPS ID and hostname, the service it was claimed by (if any), and the result: Deleted, or Failed with the underlying error available by hovering over the result. Click Back to Server List to return.

Good to know

• A cancelled service's VPS is treated as an orphan on purpose - if Blesta already cancelled the service, the leftover VPS on the server is exactly the kind of cleanup this plugin exists to find.
• The Missing Services tab is read-only; there's nothing to delete or ignore there, since the VPS it's reporting on doesn't exist to act on.
