Links

Sell anything that is really just a link - a download, a members area, an invite - and have it delivered automatically the moment the order is paid.

What it does

Some of the things you sell are not a server or an account Blesta has to provision - they are simply a link: a software download, an invite to a private community, a members-only dashboard, a one-time access URL. The Links module lets you attach one or more of those links to a package, and Blesta hands them to the client automatically the moment their service goes active - in the welcome email, on their service page, and in a dedicated tab - with nothing to provision and nothing that can go down because a third-party API is unavailable.

Key features

• Multiple Named Links per Package: Give a package as many labelled links as it needs, adding and removing rows right on the package form, so one product can hand over a download, a dashboard and a support channel at once.
• Per-Service Override Link: Your staff can give one individual service its own unique link that replaces the package links for that client only, which is ideal for personalised downloads, private invites or one-off access.
• Link Delivered in the Welcome Email: The link, the package label and the full list of links are all available as email tags, and a ready-made sample welcome email ships with the module so the client gets what they bought in the first email.
• Shown Everywhere the Client Looks: Links appear on the service details panel, in a dedicated tab in the client area, and on the staff service page, so nobody has to hunt for them or ask support to resend.
• Held Back Until the Service Is Active: Clients only see their links once the service is active, so a pending, suspended or cancelled order never hands out paid content.
• Friendly Package Labels: Each package carries a friendly label that is used as the service name throughout Blesta, so client-facing lists read like product names rather than raw URLs.
• No External System Required: There is no API to connect, no server to keep online and nothing to install elsewhere, so it works the moment it is installed and cannot break because a third party did.
• Fully Translatable: Every staff and client label ships in editable language files, ready to translate into any language or reword to match your brand.

Installing Links

Before you start

• Your Blesta installation must be 6.0 or newer. Version 3.x of this module is built for the Blesta 6 admin theme and is not supported on Blesta 5.
• If you are on the leased (subscription) licence, the Blesta Club Subscription Manager must be installed and your subscription active. The owned and owned-source licences have no such requirement.

1. Upload the files

Upload the extension folder into your Blesta installation so it lands under your Blesta directory at:

components/modules/links/

For example, on a typical install: /var/www/html/blesta/components/modules/links/

2. Install it in Blesta

1. Log in to your Blesta admin area with a staff account that has the Modules permission (found under the Settings group in Manage Staff Groups).
2. Go to Settings > Company > Modules and click the Available tab.
3. Find Links in the list and click Install.

3. Configure it

There is nothing to configure. The Links module makes no external connections and has no settings - its Manage page intentionally shows that it has no management options. You are ready to create a package straight away.

1. Create a package and choose Links as its module (see the usage guide for the full walkthrough): give the package a friendly Package Label, then add one or more Label + URL rows for the links you want to hand out.
2. Assign the package to a package group your clients can order, and set its pricing as usual.

Updating Links

Upgrading works just like installing: upload the new files over the old ones, then run the upgrade from the same page you installed it on.

1. Back up your current extension files first - good practice before any upgrade.
2. Upload the new version over the existing folder, replacing the old files.
3. Log in to your Blesta admin area and go to Settings > Company > Modules.
4. Find Links and click Upgrade to run the upgrade.

Version-specific notes

• v3.0.0: Requires Blesta 6.0 or newer - upgrade Blesta first, then upload the module files and click Upgrade as described above. Nothing else changes: your packages, their links and any per-service override links carry over as they are. The links table on the package form, the staff service info panel and the module's Manage page now use the Blesta 6 admin theme and follow its light or dark mode, and the Remove link on each link row is now a trash-can button.
• v2.0.0: Packages now carry a Package Label and one or more named Label + URL link rows, in place of the old single Link field. Nothing is required of you - packages created on an earlier version keep showing their existing link exactly as before, and are migrated to the new format automatically the next time you open and save that package. You may also want to add the new {package.label} and {package.links_rendered} tags to your welcome email template.
• v1.1.0: The module's welcome email template only started registering correctly with this version, and an earlier HTML formatting issue in its link was fixed. If your package's welcome email was set up before this version, open the package's Welcome Email tab and click Load Sample Email to pick up the corrected template.

Using Links

This guide covers day-to-day use of the Links module: creating a package that carries one or more links, giving an individual service its own override link, and the three places a client sees their link(s).

Creating a Links Package

1. Log in to your Blesta admin account.
2. Navigate to Packages > Browse Packages and click Create Package.
3. Under Module, select Links.
4. Enter a Package Label - a friendly name for the package. This is what the package is listed under everywhere in Blesta (staff package lists, the service dropdown, etc.), instead of a raw URL. Leaving it blank blocks the save with an error.
5. Under Links, add one or more rows, each with a Label and a URL:

   Label: Download
   URL:   https://example.com/downloads/my-software.zip

   Click Add Link for another row, or the trash-can button at the end of a row to drop it (the last remaining row is cleared instead of removed). Every row must have a label and a valid http://, https://, ftp:// or ftps:// URL - a blank or invalid row blocks the save with an error. At least one link row is required.

6. You will also see a Link Group dropdown - this is a standard field Blesta shows for every module and has no effect for Links, so you can leave it on Any.
7. Fill in the remaining package details (name, pricing, group) as usual and save.

Adding a Service Manually

To give a client a Links package without them ordering it themselves: open the client's profile, then Account Actions > Add Service, and pick the Links package. A Links Options section shows the Custom Link Override field (see below) - leave it blank to use the package's own links, set the term and status, then continue to add the service.

Ordering

When a client orders a Links package themselves (or you add one from the order form), there is nothing for them to fill in - the package's own links are all that is needed, so the order goes straight to checkout with no extra step.

Giving a Service Its Own Override Link

Staff can replace all of a package's links with a single unique link for one specific service - useful for a personalized download, a private invite, or one-off access. This is only ever set by staff; a client cannot set or change it themselves.

1. Open the client's profile, find the service in the Services list and click Manage.
2. On the Basic Options tab, in the Upgrade/Downgrade section, enter a URL in Custom Link Override (hover the info icon next to it for a reminder of what it does).
3. Click Save. That service now shows only the override link, everywhere the package links would otherwise appear, until the field is cleared.

Leaving the field blank keeps the service showing the package's own links.

Where Your Client Sees the Link(s)

Once the client's service is active, the link(s) - the override if one is set, otherwise every named link on the package - are shown in three places:

1. Welcome Email - the module ships a default welcome email template. On the package's Welcome Email tab, click Load Sample Email to drop that template in, then edit it to taste.
2. Service dropdown - clicking the service row on the client's Dashboard (or on the client's Services list, in the client area) expands an inline panel showing a Label/Link table. The same panel appears to staff on the client's Services list in the admin area.
3. "Get Your Link" tab - a tab on the client's service management page.

While the service is still pending, the two client-facing surfaces show "Please wait until the service is activated to see your link" instead of the link(s). Staff can see the link(s) regardless of service status.

Backward Compatibility

Packages created before named links existed (single Link field only, no Package Label) keep working with no changes required: they still show that URL as both the label and the link everywhere. Opening and re-saving the package migrates it to a labelled link row automatically.

Email Tags

The module exposes these package tags for use in email templates:

Use them in the package's welcome email like so:

{package.links_rendered} is plain text (email tags can't render a list as HTML), so it is best used in the plain-text version of the email, or inside a <pre>/<p> block in the HTML version.

Changing Links

Editing the links on a package updates them for every service on that package immediately (unless a service has its own override) - there is nothing to re-provision, and existing clients see the new links the next time they load the page. Note that welcome emails already sent keep the links that were current when they were sent.

Module Management

The Links module provisions nothing and contacts no external service, so Settings > Company > Modules > Installed > Links > Manage intentionally shows "This module doesn't have any management options". There are no accounts or servers to configure.
