Provision Instantly

Hand your clients a working service the second they pay, instead of making them wait out the next cron run.

What it does

By default, Blesta only checks for services to activate when its scheduled cron tasks run, so a client who has just paid an invoice can be left waiting for the next run before their service goes live. Provision Instantly closes that gap: it watches for the moment an invoice is paid in full (or created free, such as a trial or fully discounted order) and activates the services on it right away, in the same request, no cron delay involved. Orders held back for manual or fraud review are queued and provisioned automatically within about a minute of you approving them. A small settings screen keeps the setup honest, warning you if a core cron task that would race the plugin is still switched on and letting you fix it in a click.

Installing Provision Instantly

Before you start

• If you are on the leased (subscription) licence, the Blesta Club Subscription Manager must be installed and your subscription active. The owned and owned-source licences have no such requirement.

1. Upload the files

Upload the extension folder into your Blesta installation so it lands under your Blesta directory at:

plugins/provision_instantly/

For example, on a typical install: /var/www/html/blesta/plugins/provision_instantly/

2. Install it in Blesta

1. Log in to your Blesta admin area with a staff account that has the Plugins permission, including Install Plugin and Manage Plugin (found under the Settings section in Manage Staff Groups).
2. Go to Settings > Company > Plugins and click the Available tab.
3. Find Provision Instantly in the list and click Install. Blesta installs it immediately - there's no confirmation step.

Provision Instantly declares no permissions of its own, so every staff member who can already reach Settings > Company > Plugins can open its settings screen right away - there is no separate access step to grant.

3. Disable the two conflicting core cron tasks

Provision Instantly replaces the timing of Blesta's own provisioning checks, so two core cron tasks must be switched off or they will race it:

1. Go to Settings > Company > Automation.
2. Disable Process Service Changes.
3. Disable Provision Paid Pending Services.

You can do this by hand on that page, or open Provision Instantly's own settings screen (Settings > Company > Plugins, Installed tab, click Manage next to Provision Instantly) - if either task is still enabled it shows a warning with a Disable conflicting core crons button that turns both off for you in one click.

4. Nothing else to configure

Provision Instantly has no API keys, credentials, or per-package settings to fill in. It runs automatically from here on: any invoice that closes fully paid, any invoice created free, and any paid service change all provision the moment Blesta records them, and an order held for manual or fraud review is picked up by the plugin's own cron within about a minute of you approving it.

Updating Provision Instantly

Upgrading works just like installing: upload the new files over the old ones, then run the upgrade from the same page you installed it on.

1. Back up your current extension files first - good practice before any upgrade.
2. Upload the new version over the existing folder, replacing the old files.
3. Log in to your Blesta admin area and go to Settings > Company > Plugins.
4. Find Provision Instantly and click Upgrade to run the upgrade.

Version-specific notes

• v2.0.0: Adds a settings screen at Settings > Company > Plugins > Manage with a setup health check, a one-click fix for the two conflicting core cron tasks, a live count of what has been provisioned, and a prune button for its own tracking tables. Nothing to configure - it appears automatically after the upgrade runs.
• v1.0.2 and later: Orders held for manual or fraud review are provisioned by the plugin's own cron task rather than immediately. The two core cron tasks - Process Service Changes and Provision Paid Pending Services - still need to stay disabled under Settings > Company > Automation; if you first installed a version older than 1.0.2, confirm they are still off.

Using Provision Instantly

Provision Instantly has no settings of its own to fill in and nothing for your clients to see or use directly - it works quietly in the background from the moment it's installed. Its only screen is a status page for your staff.

For your staff

The Provision Instantly settings screen

Go to Settings > Company > Plugins, open the Installed tab, and click Manage next to Provision Instantly.

Setup health check - at the top, this section tells you whether the two core cron tasks that conflict with instant provisioning (Process Service Changes and Provision Paid Pending Services) are still switched on. If either one is, you'll see a red warning explaining that they race Provision Instantly and a Disable conflicting core crons button that switches both off for you in one click. Once both are off, the warning is replaced by a plain confirmation that the setup is correct, and the button disappears - there's nothing left to fix.

Underneath, it also lists Provision Instantly's own background cron task (the one that catches up on and provisions approved pending orders), showing whether it's enabled.

Current state - below the health check, three figures give you a live view of what the plugin has done: how many services it has instantly provisioned, how many invoices it has handled, and how many orders are currently sitting in its queue waiting on your approval. If any orders are queued, they're listed underneath with their order number and status. A Prune orphaned tracking records button lets you clean out bookkeeping for services, invoices, and orders that no longer exist on demand, on top of the nightly automatic cleanup.

Good to know

• Once it's installed and the two core cron tasks are disabled, Provision Instantly works entirely on its own - there's no per-package or per-client setting to turn it on. It follows Blesta's own automatic-provisioning setting for each client group, so a group you've configured to require manual approval is left alone.
• Your clients don't see anything different about Provision Instantly itself - they simply notice that a paid invoice, a free order, or an approved paid service change takes effect immediately instead of after a short wait.
• An order held for manual or fraud review is provisioned automatically within about a minute of you approving it, once the plugin's own cron task has had a chance to pick it up - you don't need to do anything beyond the normal approval step.
