Discord Login

Let clients into your client area with the Discord account they already use, and optionally drop them straight into your Discord server while they are at it.

What it does

Asking clients to remember yet another username and password is friction they don't need, especially if your brand already lives on Discord. Discord Login adds a "Login with Discord" button to your client login page, so a client with an approved Discord account signs straight into the matching Blesta client area with one click. Turn on the optional Discord server (guild) join and the same sign-in can add the client to your server with the right roles already applied, turning every login into community growth - or leave it off and the plugin stays pure single sign-on.

• Sign In With an Account They Already Have: Clients reach your client area with an account they already use elsewhere instead of another password to remember, right on your existing login page with no template edits.
• Signs In the Matching Client Account: The Discord account's email address is matched to the client account that already uses it, so an approved Discord identity becomes a one-click way back into the portal.
• Optional Automatic Discord Server Membership: Set your Discord server (guild) ID and clients are added to your server the moment they log in. Leave it blank and the plugin stays pure single sign-on with no server access requested at all.

Installing Discord Login

Before you start

• Version 3.x requires Blesta 6.0 or later. On a Blesta 5 install, use version 2.x instead.
• If you are on the leased (subscription) licence, the Blesta Club Subscription Manager must be installed and your subscription active. The owned and owned-source licences have no such requirement.
• You will need a Discord application with OAuth2 credentials. You can create one for free at the Discord Developer Portal - or skip this for now and use the plugin's built-in demo mode to try it out first.

1. Upload the files

Upload the extension folder into your Blesta installation so it lands under your Blesta directory at:

plugins/discord_login/

For example, on a typical install: /var/www/html/blesta/plugins/discord_login/

2. Install it in Blesta

1. Log in to your Blesta admin area with a staff account that has the Plugins permission (with Install Plugin and Manage Plugin checked) under the Settings group in Manage Staff Groups.
2. Go to Settings > Company > Plugins and click the Available tab.
3. Find Discord Login in the list and click Install.

3. Configure it

1. From the Installed tab, click Manage next to Discord Login.
2. If you already have a Discord application, enter its Client ID and Client Secret. Then copy the Redirect Url shown on this page into your Discord application's OAuth2 redirect settings - it is generated for your install and must match exactly.
3. Optional - to also add clients to your Discord server when they sign in, create a bot for your Discord application and enter its Bot Token, your server's Guild ID (Server ID), and any Role IDs (comma separated) to assign automatically. Leave these blank to use Discord purely for sign-in with no server access requested.
4. Not ready to connect a real Discord application yet? Tick Mock API and save - the plugin will run the full sign-in flow from bundled sample data instead of contacting Discord, so you can see it working right away. Turn it off once you have real credentials in place.
5. Click Save.

Updating Discord Login

Upgrading works just like installing: upload the new files over the old ones, then run the upgrade from the same page you installed it on.

1. Back up your current extension files first - good practice before any upgrade.
2. Upload the new version over the existing folder, replacing the old files.
3. Log in to your Blesta admin area and go to Settings > Company > Plugins.
4. Find Discord Login and click Update to run the upgrade.

Version-specific notes

• v3.0.0: Requires Blesta 6.0 or later - upgrade Blesta first, then the plugin. Blesta 5 installs should stay on 2.x. Nothing changes in your settings or in how clients sign in; the Manage screen simply takes on the Blesta 6 admin theme, groups its settings into Discord Application, Discord Server and Testing sections, and gains a help tooltip next to every field.
• v2.0.0: Your Client Secret and Bot Token are now stored encrypted. The update converts the values already saved, so there is nothing to re-enter. Because they are encrypted, the Manage screen no longer displays them - both fields are now masked and start empty. Leaving a field blank keeps the value already saved; type into it only when you want to replace that credential. Discord server membership is now optional - leave Guild ID blank if you only want sign-in with no server join. Two-factor accounts can no longer sign in with Discord: a client with two-factor authentication enabled is now asked to log in with their email address and password instead, so the second factor is never skipped. Sign-in links are now single use and tied to one browser - a client who reloads or reuses an old Discord sign-in link is asked to start again from the login page.

Using Discord Login

For your staff

Managing the settings

Go to Settings > Company > Plugins, find Discord Login in the Installed list and click Manage. This single screen holds everything the plugin needs:

• Client ID and Client Secret - from your Discord application.
• Bot Token, Guild ID (Server ID) and Role IDs To Add - optional, and only needed if you want clients automatically added to your Discord server on sign-in.
• Mock API - a checkbox that runs the sign-in flow from bundled sample data instead of contacting Discord, for testing and demos.
• Redirect Url - a read-only field showing the exact URL to paste into your Discord application's settings. You never need to type or edit this yourself.

Client Secret and Bot Token are stored encrypted and are never shown again once saved - both fields stay blank on this screen, and leaving either blank when you save keeps the value you already entered. Type into a field only when you want to replace that credential.

This plugin does not add anything to the admin navigation, and there is no separate list of automations, actions or events to configure - the Manage screen above is the whole of its admin footprint.

For your clients

Signing in with Discord

Your client login page gains a divider reading "or login with" and a Discord button underneath the usual username and password form. Clicking it sends the client to Discord to sign in and authorize your application, then brings them back and signs them straight into the matching Blesta client account - with no separate Discord password to enter into Blesta itself.

Good to know

• Sign-in works by matching the verified email address on the client's Discord account to an existing Blesta client. A Discord account whose email isn't verified with Discord, or whose email doesn't match any client, is sent back to the login page with an explanation - this plugin never creates a new client account on its own.
• Clients with two-factor authentication enabled on their Blesta account cannot sign in with Discord - they're asked to sign in with their email address and password instead, so the second factor is never skipped.
• A Discord sign-in link is single-use and tied to the browser that started it. Reusing or reloading an old one sends the client back to the login page to start again.
• Discord server (guild) membership is entirely optional. With no Guild ID configured, Discord Login is pure single sign-on and never asks for access to add anyone to a server.
